Friends of Sabeel Australia Inc was formed in 2003 to support the work of the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center in Jerusalem. We are an Incorporated Association under Queensland law (registration number IA32173).
Our primary objectives are:
- To raise awareness in Australia and provide education concerning Christians in Israel and Palestine as well as neighbouring countries; and
- To support the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center in Jerusalem in all its work.
We work in partnership with other communities and organisation whose values and mission align with ours, and specifically the Australian Palestine Advocacy Network (APAN), of which we are a founding member, and the Palestine Israel Ecumenical Network (PIEN) and Palestinian Christians in Australia (PCiA)
Our current activities and campaigns are reflected on our Sabeel Australia Facebook page and the Sabeel Australia website.
Our community network across Australia primarily operates by social media, with occasional online seminars and workshops as well as live events.
We collaborate with the global Sabeel network, and with other ecumenical and interfaith organisations.
