Donald Trump has warned Israel would lose “all support” from his administration if Jerusalem tried to move forward with annexing the West Bank, as the Knesset voted on legislation over the controversial issue.
Time Magazine on Thursday published an interview with the US President ahead of the vote, where MKs (Members of the Knesset) voted to progess the bill that would apply Israeli sovereignty to all West Bank settlements.
“It won’t happen because I gave my word to the Arab countries. And you can’t do that now,” he told Time.
“It will not happen. Israel would lose all of its support from the United States if that happened.”
Vice President JD Vance blasted Israel’s politicians after the vote passed, calling it a “very stupid political stunt,” with Washington warning such a step could jeopardise the fragile US-brokered truce in Gaza.
